What about a site where kids can type in their essays and get automated immediate rubric-based feedback about their writing style, use of conventions, and content relevance? Teachers would be expert scorers who would "tune" the engine over time and with more and more well-scored examples, the engine would give better and better advice to young writers. This idea has two customers - teachers and students! Content specificity would grow as a particular "essay prompt type" developed a large body of scored examples.
